My dell ultrasharp U2715H monitor is not recognizing my Mac Pro

I have just purchased a Dell Ultrasharp U2715H monitor. I have used the Display Port to Thunderbolt connector provided but the screen is telling me "No DP cable".

I have rebooted the Mac Pro and tried connecting the screen to my macbook pro.

I have also tried the screen connected via HDMI. The same message appears. Dell hasn't responded yet.

Has anyone experienced this?

What model Mac Pro?

What graphics card(s)?

Are other monitors connected?

I do not know what this is "Display Port to Thunderbolt connector"

One can get a cable that has a mini displayport plug on one end and a displayport plug on the other end.

Are you sure you are using the displayport input on the monitor and not the displayport out connection on the monitor?
